These spooky witch finger pretzel rods are the perfect Halloween treatβ€”quick, easy, and oh-so-creepy. They look like something out of a witch’s kitchen but come together in almost no time, making them ideal for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard 12-ounce bag pretzel rods (about 24 rods)
  • 1 cup (about 6 ounces) green candy melts
  • 24 whole almonds
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • Red gel food coloring (optional, for decoration)
  • Black sprinkles or edible glitter (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. Melt the green candy melts: Place 1 cup of green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely smooth. If too thick, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil or coconut oil and stir.
  3. Dip the pretzel rods: Hold one pretzel rod by the end and dip it about two-thirds of the way into the melted candy coating. Gently tap against the bowl to remove excess.
  4. Place the dipped pretzel on the parchment paper. Repeat with all pretzel rods, working quickly.
  5. Attach the almond ‘fingernails’: While the coating is still wet, press a whole almond onto the tip of the dipped end, pointy end facing outward. Press firmly but gently.
  6. Add red ‘blood’ drips (optional): Use a toothpick or small piping bag to add a few drops of red gel food coloring at the base of the almond.
  7. Let them set completely: Allow to sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or refrigerate for 10 minutes, until firm.
  8. Serve or store: Arrange on a platter and serve immediately, or store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

Don’t overheat the candy melts; they can seize. Work in small batches if making a large amount. Use pointy almonds for best fingernail effect. Keep pretzels separate while setting to avoid sticking. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free pretzel rods. For dairy-free, use dairy-free white chocolate chips and coconut oil.
