Ingredients

  • Brie or Camembert (4-6 oz)
  • Aged Cheddar or Gouda (3-4 oz)
  • Goat Cheese or Blue Cheese (2-3 oz)
  • Prosciutto (4-5 slices)
  • Salami or Soppressata (4-5 slices)
  • Fresh Fruit (1 cup total, e.g., red grapes, figs, sliced apples or pears)
  • Dried Fruit (1/4 cup, e.g., dried apricots, figs, or dates)
  • Nuts (1/4 cup, e.g., toasted almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
  • Olives (1/4 cup, e.g., Castelvetrano or Kalamata)
  • Honey or Fig Jam (2 tablespoons)
  • Crackers (about 8-10, e.g., water crackers, rosemary flatbreads)
  • Baguette Slices (6-8 slices, thinly sliced and lightly toasted)
  • Fresh Herbs (a few sprigs, e.g., rosemary, thyme, or edible flowers)
  • Flaky Sea Salt (a pinch)
  • Dark Chocolate (1-2 squares, 70% or higher)

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 20 minutes before serving to let it come to room temperature.
  2. Prep the fruit and vegetables: wash grapes and pat dry; slice apples or pears thinly and toss in lemon juice to prevent browning; cut figs in half lengthwise; rinse berries; cut dried fruit into smaller pieces if large.
  3. Slice the cheese: leave brie or camembert whole or cut into wedges; cut cheddar or gouda into thin slices or small cubes; slice goat cheese log into rounds or crumble.
  4. Prep the meats: separate prosciutto slices and fold into loose ribbons or drape in waves; fold salami slices in half, then in half again to create triangles, or roll into cylinders.
  5. Arrange the board: place small bowls or ramekins on the board first (for olives, honey/jam, nuts). Then place cheeses around the board, spacing them out. Add meats near the cheeses. Fill in gaps with fruit, crackers, and bread slices.
  6. Add finishing touches: drizzle honey over brie or goat cheese; sprinkle flaky sea salt over cheese or fruit; tuck fresh herb sprigs into gaps; place dark chocolate squares near the edge.
  7. Serve immediately with small plates, napkins, and a cheese knife for each person.

Notes

For best flavor, let cheese come to room temperature before serving. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave space between items. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate, then take out 20-30 minutes before serving. Customize based on personal preferences.
