  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika or chili powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each slice of bacon in half. Wrap one half around each mini smokie, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  3. Arrange the wrapped smokies seam side down on the baking sheet, spaced evenly.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes until bacon starts to crisp but not burn.
  5. While baking, prepare the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, melted butter, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and optional smoked paprika or chili powder. Heat over medium-low, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
  6. Remove smokies from oven and brush generously with the glaze.
  7. Return to oven and bake for another 10-12 minutes until glaze caramelizes and becomes sticky.
  8. Let the smokies cool slightly for about 5 minutes before serving to allow glaze to set.
