Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red fruit-flavored gelatin (like strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka or water (for non-alcoholic option)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue fruit-flavored gelatin (like blueberry or raspberry)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka or water
  • Optional Garnishes: Fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries)
  • Mini American flags or toothpick decorations

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve red gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka or water and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. Mix gently and let cool slightly but not set (5-10 minutes).
  2. Pour Red Layer: Pour red gelatin mixture into shot cups filling about one-third full (approx. 1 oz per cup). Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  3. Prepare the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Microwave for about 20 seconds until melted. Whisk in sweetened condensed milk, softened cream cheese, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour White Layer: Gently spoon or ladle white mixture over chilled red layer using the back of a spoon to avoid breaking the red layer. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes to set.
  5. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka or water and stir. Let cool slightly.
  6. Pour Blue Layer: Pour blue gelatin mixture over set white layer carefully using the spoon method. Chill for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh berries or mini flags if desired. Keep refrigerated until serving.

Notes

Keep gelatin mixtures warm but not hot to avoid melting previous layers. Pour layers slowly over the back of a spoon to keep layers neat. Chill fully between layers (30-45 minutes). Use softened cream cheese for smooth white layer. Non-alcoholic and dairy-free substitutions available.
