These easy turkey and cheese pinwheel wraps are perfect for lunchboxes, ready in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients. They hold up beautifully, don’t get soggy, and are a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch size works best; use gluten-free if needed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons milk (whole milk or any plant-based milk works)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 8 slices deli turkey breast
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce (optional)
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced bell peppers (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Take the cream cheese out of the fridge 30 minutes before starting. If in a hurry, microwave for 10-15 seconds until soft, not melted.
  2. Mix the spread: In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth and creamy. Add a pinch of salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  3. Prepare your tortillas: Lay one tortilla flat on a cutting board. Spread a thin, even layer of the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface, leaving about a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  4. Layer the fillings: Place two slices of turkey on the cream cheese, overlapping slightly. Add one slice of cheese on top. If using lettuce or bell peppers, sprinkle them evenly over the cheese. Do not overstuff.
  5. Roll it up tight: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the tortilla into a tight log. Keep the roll firm but not so tight that filling squeezes out the ends. Tuck in any stray ingredients as you go.
  6. Wrap and chill: Tightly wrap the rolled tortilla in plastic wrap or wax paper. Twist the ends like a candy wrapper to secure. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Slice into pinwheels: Unwrap the chilled roll and place on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife, slice into 1-inch thick rounds using a gentle sawing motion. You should get about 6-8 pinwheels per tortilla.
  8. Secure with toothpicks (optional): If packing for lunch, stick a toothpick through each pinwheel to keep them from unrolling.

Notes

Don’t skip the chilling step; it helps the cream cheese firm up for clean slices. Use room temperature tortillas to prevent cracking. Pat lettuce dry to avoid sogginess. These keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days. For freezing, wrap uncut rolls tightly in plastic wrap and foil, freeze for up to 1 month, and thaw overnight in the fridge before slicing.
