A fun and festive Halloween guacamole dip shaped like Frankenstein’s monster. This lighter version uses Greek yogurt for creaminess and is packed with fresh flavors, making it a crowd-pleasing centerpiece for any spooky gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% recommended)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds removed and minced
  • 1 Roma tomato, seeds removed and diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (kosher preferred)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black olives, sliced (for eyes and mouth)
  • Tortilla chips (for bolts on sides of head)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves (for hair)
  • 1 small carrot, cut into a small triangle (for nose)

Instructions

  1. Prep all ingredients first: dice red onion, mince jalapeño, dice tomato, chop cilantro, and squeeze limes into a small bowl.
  2. Cut avocados in half lengthwise, twist to separate, remove pit, score flesh in a grid, and scoop into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add lime juice and salt immediately to prevent browning. Mash with a fork until mostly smooth but with some chunks (about 30 seconds).
  4. Fold in Greek yogurt gently until just combined.
  5. Add diced onion, jalapeño, tomato, and cilantro. Fold gently. Taste and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
  6. Sprinkle in garlic powder and black pepper. Stir once more and adjust heat or acid to taste.
  7. Shape guacamole into a Frankenstein head on a serving platter using a spatula or spoon—rounded rectangle shape, wider at top.
  8. Decorate: place two olive slices for eyes, carrot triangle for nose, olive slices in a zigzag for mouth, tortilla chips on sides for bolts, and cilantro leaves on top for hair.
  9. Serve immediately. If waiting, press plastic wrap directly onto surface to prevent browning.

Notes

Don’t over-mash avocados—leave some chunks for texture. Use room-temperature avocados for easier mashing. Taste as you go to adjust seasoning. Add decorations right before serving to keep cilantro fresh. If guacamole browns on top, just scrape it off. For dairy-free, swap Greek yogurt with mashed white beans or dairy-free yogurt.
