Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 Β½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • ΒΎ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • Β½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • Β½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ΒΌ cup sour cream
  • Β½ cup black raspberry preserves
  • Fresh or frozen black raspberries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9×9 inch pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar, whisking until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Slowly fold dry ingredients into wet mixture just until combined; do not overmix.
  6. In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth.
  7. Add sugar, then egg, vanilla, and sour cream to the cream cheese, mixing well after each addition.
  8. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Dollop the cheesecake mixture over the brownie base in spoonfuls.
  10. Drop spoonfuls of black raspberry preserves randomly over the cheesecake layer.
  11. Carefully spoon the remaining brownie batter on top.
  12. Using a butter knife or skewer, gently swirl the layers to create a marbled effect without over-swelling.
  13. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the center is just set but slightly jiggly; test with a toothpick near the edge.
  14. Cool completely on a wire rack, about 2 hours, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before slicing.
  15. Slice into squares and serve, garnished with fresh black raspberries if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese and eggs to avoid lumps in the cheesecake layer. Swirl gently to maintain distinct marbled layers. Chill brownies before slicing for best texture. If preserves are too thick, warm briefly to loosen. Use a sharp knife wiped clean between slices for neat edges.
