A rich and creamy iced frappuccino featuring a homemade salted caramel sauce that balances sweet and salty flavors perfectly. Ideal for a refreshing summer treat or a cozy pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed and softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, warmed
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1 cup strongly brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond milk for dairy-free option)
  • 12 tablespoons homemade salted caramel sauce
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Salted Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, pour in the granulated sugar. Stir gently with a heatproof spatula as it melts into a golden amber liquid, about 8-10 minutes. Avoid stirring too vigorously to prevent crystallization.
  2. Add the butter cubes gradually, stirring constantly until melted and combined.
  3. Slowly pour in the warmed heavy cream while stirring. The mixture will bubble vigorously. Keep stirring until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and stir in the flaky sea salt. Let the sauce cool for at least 15 minutes to thicken.
  4. Prepare the Coffee Base: Brew strong coffee (about 1 cup), then cool to room temperature. Combine the coffee with milk in a mixing bowl or pitcher and whisk to combine.
  5. Blend the Frappuccino: In a blender, add ice cubes, the coffee-milk mixture, and 1-2 tablespoons of salted caramel sauce. Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and frothy. Adjust sweetness or milk as desired.
  6. Serve: Pour the frappuccino into a tall glass. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with leftover salted caramel sauce. Optionally, sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top.

Notes

Use medium heat to avoid burning sugar. Warm the cream before adding to caramel to prevent splattering. If caramel hardens, gently warm it before use. For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk and heavy cream with coconut cream. If no blender is available, shake ingredients in a sealed jar with ice for a rustic texture.
