  • 2 shots (about 2 oz / 60 ml) freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 cup (240 ml) oat milk, unsweetened or lightly sweetened
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) brewed espresso for espresso foam

Instructions

  1. Brew two shots (about 2 oz / 60 ml) of espresso using your preferred method. Set aside 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of this espresso for frothing later.
  2. In a small saucepan, gently heat 1 cup (240 ml) of oat milk over low heat until warm but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes). Stir in 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (if using) until sugar dissolves and milk is fragrant.
  3. Use a milk frother or steam wand to froth the warm oat milk until creamy and slightly foamy (30-45 seconds). If no frother is available, pour milk into a jar with a lid, shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then microwave for 20 seconds to stabilize foam.
  4. Froth the reserved 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of espresso separately until light and airy (about 20-30 seconds) to create espresso foam.
  5. Pour the brewed espresso shots into your mug. Slowly add the frothed oat milk mixture, holding back the foam with a spoon. Gently spoon the espresso foam on top. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or brown sugar on the foam.

Notes

Use freshly ground cinnamon for best flavor. Heat oat milk gently to about 140°F (60°C) to avoid curdling. Frothing espresso separately creates a unique velvety foam. Adjust brown sugar to taste. For caffeine-free, use decaf espresso or chicory coffee. Oat milk froths best when fresh; clean frother regularly.
