A quick and easy pantry-only mint julep mocktail that uses dried mint and simple syrup to create a refreshing, minty, and fizzy drink without fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon dried mint leaves, crushed slightly
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (homemade or store-bought)
  • Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • Β½ cup chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes (about 1 cup)
  • Mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place about 1 tablespoon of dried mint leaves in your mixing glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist to release the oils (about 30 seconds).
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup and Β½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir gently to combine.
  3. If using, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and stir again.
  4. Fill the glass with about 1 cup of ice cubes to chill the drink.
  5. Pour Β½ cup of chilled club soda or sparkling water over the ice.
  6. Give everything a gentle stir to combine flavors. Taste and adjust sweetness or lemon as desired.
  7. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs if available and serve immediately.

Notes

If the dried mint flavor is muted, let the mixture sit for 5 minutes before adding ice and soda. Avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness. Use quality dried mint for best flavor. Add sparkling water last and stir lightly to preserve fizz.
